Orange Chicken

Ingredients

1 kg chicken breasts
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp white pepper
6 tbs cornflour
3 tbs flour
cooking oil
1 cm fresh ginger
1 clove of garlic
1 red chilli
1/2 tsp sesame oil
2 spring onions
1 tsp rice wine
2 tbs soy sauce
5 tbs sugar
5 tbs white vinegar
2 tsp cornflour
2 oranges
50 ml water (3 1/3 tbs)
rice

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized portions.
  2. Whisk the eggs in a bowl with salt and pepper.
  3. Combine the cornflour and flour and then add to the eggs.
  4. Add the chicken.
  5. Cook the chicken all the way through in a wok or frying pan with oil. Leave on a paper towel to drain.
  6. Finely chop the ginger, garlic and chilli and sauté in a clean pan with the sesame oil.
  7. Chop the spring onions, add to the pan and deglaze with rice wine.
  8. Mix the soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, cornflour and orange zest in a bowl and add to the pan.
  9. Allow to boil, add the meat and reduce while stirring until the sauce is thicker in consistency.
  10. Goes well with rice.
