Nasi Goreng

Servings: 4

Ingredients

300 g rice
200 g chicken breasts
2 carrots
4 spring onions
200 g Chinese leaf cabbage
2 cloves of garlic
1 piece of ginger
100 g peas
6 tbs oil
1-2 tsp sambal paste
1-2 tbs lemon juice
1 tbs tomato ketchup
3 tsp soy sauce
100 g soy bean sprouts

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice. Put the rice in a covered saucepan with 600 ml of salted water and bring to the boil.
  2. Once boiling, turn down the heat and leave on the stove for another 15 min.
  3. Peel the carrots, wash the spring onions, wash the Chinese leaf cabbage and remove the centre stem.
  4. Cut the vegetables into strips.
  5. Peel the garlic and ginger and slice finely.
  6. Cut the chicken into strips and cook in 2 tbs of oil.
  7. Add the vegetables, garlic and ginger and fry for 2 min. with the other 4 tbs oil.
  8. Add the rice and fry for another 2 min.
  9. Stir in the sambal paste, lemon juice, ketchup and soy sauce.
  10. Rinse the sprouts, add to the pan and fry for 3 more minutes.
