American Fudge Brownie with Almonds

Ingredients

50 g butter
200 g dark chocolate
75 g flour
100 g sugar
100 g slivered almonds
2 eggs
1/4 tsp vanilla paste or 1 tsp vanilla essence
dark chocolate to decorate

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C, 350°F or gas 4.
  2. Melt the butter in a pan.
  3. Add chocolate, melt and leave to cool a little.
  4. Mix together thoroughly the flour, sugar, almonds, eggs, and vanilla.
  5. Stir in the melted chocolate and butter.
  6. Pour into a lined baking tray. Mixture should be about 2 cm high.
  7. Bake for around 20 minutes, testing every now and then with a skewer. The inside should remain a little moist.
  8. Cut into squares.
  9. Extra chocolate can be melted in a double boiler and spread on top if desired.
  10. Leave to cool and then serve.
