Cheddar and Cranberry Burgers

Ingredients

For the sauce:
50 g cranberries
25 g brown sugar
100 g cooking apples
35 ml water
1/2 tsp orange zest
For the rest:
500 g beef mince
salt, pepper, paprika
4 hamburger buns
1 lettuce
4 slices of cheddar

Instructions

  1. For the sauce, soak the cranberries in water with sugar.
  2. Peel and core the apples. Dice very finely and add.
  3. Simmer on a medium heat for at least 20 minutes.
  4. Purée with a stick blender.
  5. Add the zested orange peel and reduce further according to preference.
  6. Allow to cool.
  7. Season the mince, knead and shape into patties.
  8. Cook in a pan or on a barbecue.
  9. Toast the hamburger buns.
  10. Wash the lettuce.
  11. Layer each bun with lettuce, sauce, a patty, a slice of cheese, and then sauce and lettuce again.
