Red Cabbage with Cream and Bacon

Ingredients

500 g red cabbage
1 onion
150 g bacon (or ham)
1 tbs butter
200 ml cream (just over 3/4 cup)
salt, pepper and nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Wash the cabbage and remove wilted leaves. Cut through the stem and cut crosswise.
  2. Add to a pot with water, just enough to cover the cabbage. Add 1 tsp salt and boil covered for 15-18 min. on a medium heat.
  3. Dice the onion and bacon and fry in a pan with butter.
  4. Add the cabbage and cream and reduce for 8 min.
  5. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
