Teriyaki Pineapple Burgers

Servings: 4

Ingredients

For the sauce:
2 tbs vegetable oil
2 garlic cloves
50 ml mirin (Japanese rice wine)
50 ml sake
50 ml soy sauce
white pepper
For the rest:
1 red onion
500 g beef mince
salt, pepper, onion powder
4 pineapple rings
2 handfuls of lettuce
4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. For the sauce, add oil to a pan and cook the peeled garlic cloves.
  2. Remove the garlic, add sake to the pan and deglaze.
  3. Add the combined mirin and soy sauce and reduce until the sauce is thicker.
  4. Add white pepper to taste.
  5. Slice the onion into fine rings.
  6. Season the mince, knead and shape into patties.
  7. Cook in a pan or on a barbecue.
  8. Lightly sear the pineapple in the pan or on the barbecue.
  9. Wash the lettuce.
  10. Toast the hamburger buns.
  11. Fill each bun with onion, lettuce, a patty, sauce and a pineapple ring.
